WHAT WE DO
Preservation and Enhancement of Trails Access
BCHBC believes in the value of our BC trail network and supports the preservation and maintenance of existing infrastructure and trails.
Through collaboration with individuals, government, business and other recreational users of public land, BCHBC strives to preserve and enhance the use of public lands for all equestrians.
The Harmon/Kane Lake Project: Construction of 13 sites with 26 corrals – a Provincial initiative with direct involvement and support of multiple chapters.

The Nesakwatch Bridge
After 20 years, this once beautiful bridge was failing. This popular section of The Great Trail (formerly the Trans Canada Trail, or TCT) is important to hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians. In the fall of 2019, after conferring with Recreation Sites and Trails (RSTBC), a decision was made to combine resources and replace the aging bridge.

WE CONTRIBUTE
Lundbom Lake Corrals
Our members are involved in consultation and advisory capacities with provincial and local governing agencies dealing with matters of concern to all trail users.
Membership eagerly looks forward to the various work bees – either at their local chapter level or, on a larger scale – where multiple chapters will gather to construct a project (recognized as a Provincial initiative), such as the removal and reconstruction of the corrals at Lundbom Lake recreation area outside of Merritt.
The eagerness comes from the general character of our members and the value placed on their contributions to support the purpose of the society.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Participation in work bees to help maintain and build trails in your local area and/or elsewhere in the province
Many of our active members are eager and willing to put their hands and backs together to get things done.
A favourite quote is: “Many hands make light work!”
