Chapters – and their diverse membership – are the backbone and character of our organization!

The Back Country Horsemen Society of BC is comprised of local community chapters throughout the province – from the East Kootenay Chapter in the southeast corner to the Skeena Stikine Chapter in the northwest – and many locations in between!

Individual BCHBC Chapters:

  • may hold regular meetings, events and rides.
  • are able to focus on local priorities and projects such as saving a regional trail.
  • elect executive positions, as mandated by BCHBC Bylaws and Constitution.
  • sit on the Provincial Board of Directors, which meets twice a year to deal with province-wide issues and initiatives such as (but not limited to) education, publicity, finances, policies and special events.

No Chapter in your area?

Maybe you’re interested in what you’ve seen?  Checked the map to see if there is a chapter in your area?  The nearest one is too far away?  You could become a member at large, but you also know a lot of like-minded people in your community …

Why not get them together, review the website and our Mission and Purpose, as well as the various chapter profiles?  If you feel it fits what you would like to see in your community, that you can support our ideals and projects, maybe you can organize a chapter in your area.

You need a core group of at least 10 members to start, but before you do, give us a shout and let us know you are interested.  We can help you get the full picture of what developing a chapter is all about and offer support and assistance if that is what you truly want to do.

If it’s time to make that first contact, email us at  We’re waiting to meet you!
