John Gardner was a truly committed member of the Back Country Horsemen of BC, as well as one of the most “open and willing to help others” individual we had the privilege of knowing. So talented in so many ways.
For those who are not aware of the award, it was created in memory, recognition and in honor of John’s open willingness to help others in the equine world and his many hours volunteering his time, personal equipment and skills on numerous projects for the benefit BCHBC and its members.
The John Gardner Trail exists off the Tulameen Forest Service Road taking you from the valley floor up to alpine areas of Illal Mountain and Jim Kelly Peak
The Volunteer of the Year Award is awarded to an individual who has made a special or significant contribution to the BCHBC. It recognizes the commitment of the nominee, which has contributed to the growth and development of the BCHBC.
CRITERIA INCLUDES:
- Time investment/length of service to the BCHBC
- Commitment to the BCHBC
- Impact of the nominee’s efforts
- Does the nominee(s) exemplify the spirit of BCHBC?
- Does the nominee(s) show leadership and initiative?
- Does the nominee(s) serve as a role model?
- Does the nominee(s) inspire others to volunteer?
